A public study sponsored by Xinhua Bookstore opened to students of No 4 Primary School in Shuozhou, Shanxi province, on June 1.

Shuozhou government has been promoting education and reading in recent years yet public reading spaces are still in short supply.

The introduction of a public library at No 4 Primary School aims to satisfy the reading needs of teachers and students.

A promotional reading program launched by Xinhua Bookstore and the school is the first phase of Shuozhou's primary and middle school reading programs.

The Xinhua Public Study, free to the school’s students, is equipped with more than 8,000 books, ranging from picture books and fairy tales to classics and reference books.

Xinhua Bookstore staff members will keep the library updated to meet the evolving reading needs of students and faculty.
