Shanxi attracts media spotlight at two sessions

The Shanxi delegation to the 13th National People's Congress (NPC) held a plenary meeting open to the media in Beijing on March 9.

A total of 109 journalists from 67 media outlets from home and abroad, including the People's Daily, Xinhua News Agency, CCTV, China Daily, Hong Kong Takungpao and China Arab TV, took part in the event.

The NPC deputies, led by Luo Huining, Party secretary of Shanxi province, and Lou Yangsheng, governor of Shanxi, answered journalists' questions after deliberating on draft amendments to the Constitution, as well as on plans and budget reports.

As for the transformation and development goals of Shanxi, Luo Huining said that Shanxi will consolidate a foundation for transformation, further develop Shanxi’s Transformation and Comprehensive Reform Demonstration Zone, and aim to lead the energy revolution, opening-up inland China by 2030.

In terms of the culture and tourism industries, Lou Yangsheng said that Shanxi will promote tourism themed around the Great Wall, the Yellow River and Taihang Mountains, construct transport infrastructure for tourism, and offer further policy support for land use, finance, and taxation related to culture and tourism development.

Other issues raised by journalists concerning the province included supervising reforms to the system, reforming healthcare, promoting poverty alleviation and technological innovation.
