A total of 10 masters from Shanxi have been recognized as national craftspeople in the field of intangible cultural heritage, according to a list released by China Arts And Crafts Association on Nov 8.

The 10 national craftspeople are professionals in various branches of national intangible cultural heritage, such as Pingyao polished lacquer ware, paper cutting and wood carving.

The selection of national intangible cultural heritage craftspeople aimed to enhance the status of intangible cultural heritage craftspeople, protect and develop traditional folk craft and spread traditional Chinese culture. A subsidy of 12 million yuan ($1.81 million) has been allotted for the protection and promotion of related arts and crafts.
