Huamo are fashioned into various shapes, March 25. Locals in the south of Shanxi –– which grows high-quality wheat –– have a traditional custom of honoring and remembering their ancestors with huamo on Tomb Sweeping Day, the fourth or fifth day of the fourth lunar month in the Chinese lunar calendar, to pray for good health and harvests.
