Since a bike-sharing scheme was introduced in Taiyuan, capital of Shanxi province, on Feb 16, it has received an overwhelmingly warm welcome from citizens, Morning Life Post reports.

"We haven't discovered any malicious damage to the bikes," said Li Ting, a staff member of Coolqi, the first company to start a bike-sharing service in the city. "Problems like disorderly parking which have baffled the service in many other cities don't occur much in Taiyuan."

According to Li, over 10,000 Coolqi bikes had been distributed around the city by March 8.

Users only need to download the company's app and deposit 298 yuan ($43) to become subscribers. They can find the nearest available bike through the app and scan the QR code to unlock the vehicle.

Most users are from 20 to 40 years old, and are attracted by the service's high efficiency and low cost.

"I don't need to find a docking station for parking, which saves time on my way to work. And it only costs 0.3 yuan (4 cents) for half an hour," said Chen Kefei, a resident in Taiyuan.
