The first provincial contemporary youth oil painting exhibition was opened on Aug 10 at the Taiyuan Art Museum, North China's Shanxi province, where a total of 96 works of art will be put on display, as reported by sxrb.com on Aug 10.

The exhibition entitled, "The Future Vision", will run until Aug 28. All the paintings on show are outstanding works selected from more than 360 creations by young painters across Shanxi province.

Some of the work on display challenges traditional styles, putting the exhibition at the cutting edge of new trends in art. The works depict people, present well-known cartoon figures in new ways, and attempt a realistic portrayal of Shanxi, abundant in coal and steel.

According to the organizers, the show is aimed at promoting the work of young artists in the province. They hope to build the event into an essential annual event for young artists, where they can exchange ideas with other painters from across China.
