Taigu county

Taigu county, built in Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 24), has a long history with developed culture and business. It is home villages of Jin (Shanxi) merchants, along with Jiexiu city, Qixian county, and Pingyao county. It still has many remains of courtyards of Jin merchants.

During the period from Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911) to the Republic of China, many merchants and businessmen gathered in Taigu county, making it the financial and business center in North China.

The county currently develops modern agriculture, traditional Chinese medicine, and agricultural product processing industry.

Taigu county is in the Jinzhong 108 Corridor Regional Integration Development Demonstration Area, in Jinzhong city, North China's Shanxi province, which is along the National Highway 108, covering Yuci district, Taigu county, Qixian county, Pingyao county, Jiexiu city and lingshi county.
