The old city of Yuci, in Shanxi province's Jinzhong city, will have large-scale live-action performances ready for the Spring Festival, the most important traditional festival in China.
The 1,400-year-old city with a rich legacy of folk and religious culture will hold various activities during the 16-day celebration, starting Feb 8, the first day of the first lunar month.
The activities will include local folk festival entertainment, gong and drum performances, traditional stage plays, games, and Buddhist activities. Snacks from Shanxi and other regions will be served. The activities will be held at the old city's historical sites, such as the city god temple and the ancient county government office.
Three parking lots at the city's east, west, and north gate can hold 1,500 cars; an additional parking lot having a capacity of 2,500 cars will be added to handle the increase of the number of tourists.
The one-stop ticket price for the celebration is 100 yuan ($15), covering all visiting and performance costs. Visitors can enjoy a preferential price at 88 yuan when buying the ticket before Feb 1. Children who are below 1.4 meters tall will be admitted free.
