Linfen, in the southwest of Shanxi by the Yellow River, is regarded as a cradle of Huaxia Civilization and one of origins of Chinese nation.

The greatness of a man lends glory to a land. The city is the hometown of a large group of outstanding people in their own areas. It’s also the birthplace of many Chinese household allusions. The long history has endowed the city with rich culture and colorful attractions.

Yao was one of the sage emperors in the middle reaches of the Yellow River in ancient China. Emperor Yao chose Pingyang as his capital about 4,500 years ago, now known as Linfen. Linfen has been working to brand itself as a center of Yao culture.

The first Emperor Yao Culture Tourism Festival aims to be a platform for culture, tourism and trade. A total of 13 activities were scheduled over the 23-day festival, including an opening ceremony, performance, photography exhibition, trade meeting and tourism promotion conference. The long-standing history and splendid culture of the city will be on display through many activities.
