A press conference for Shanxi Application Technology College was held in Taiyuan, the capital city of Shanxi province, on Thursday morning.
The new college is based at Shanxi Xinghua Vocational College. It is the first college offering undergraduate courses in application technologies in Shanxi.
Zhang Zhengming, the college’s honorary president, said it is also the first private college in Shanxi to be called application technology college.
Song Xinghang, president of Shanxi Application Technology College, said the college plans to enroll about 3,300 students this fall semester. It is offering undergraduate courses in computer science and technology, civil engineering, engineering management, logistics management and hotel management, recruiting 950 students.
In a new round of reforms in China’s higher education, 33 junior colleges were upgraded this year to become the first batch of colleges offering undergraduate courses.
