The Taiyuan Health Bureau said that 1.05 million rural residents insured with the rural cooperative medical service can get an IC card for basic medical services.

The card, equipped with an identity recognition technology, can share medical information and settle accounts in real time. It can also provide rural residents with public health services, such as health record query, maternal and children’s health care, and nutrition subsidy for pregnant people.

It will make it convenient for rural residents to get reimbursed for medical expenses. It also simplifies supervision, with the network of the information recorded and shared by the card.

The one-card pattern can standardize services at designated medical institutions and deter illegal use of the new rural cooperative medical fund.
