The Shanxi provincial tourism bureau held a meeting to promote its "Leisure Tour in Beautiful Shanxi", in Shandong province, on April 17, where travel agencies from Shandong and Shanxi provinces signed agreements, with Feng Jianping, head of Shanxi's tourism bureau, on hand to describe his province's development and its long history, special environment, tourism resources.
Shanxi has ancient buildings, painted sculptures, and wall paintings, and is near the top in China in the number of these items, with 452 relics under national protection. Feng said that the province is also rich in tourism resources, natural scenery, and historical sites, some of them on the UN's relics list.
The two provinces can complement each other in marketing tourism and developing related products, Feng added, while expressing the hope that further cooperation will promote their boutique travel routes and products, that is good for everyone.
Shanxi used the event to promote eight of its boutique travel routes and publicize its "Leisure Tour in Beautiful Shanxi" approach. The province has been holding these promotions, since 2013, and looking for tourism markets and more visitors, in seven provinces and cities as well as Hong Kong.
