According to Shanxi's Jincheng Cultural Relics Tourism Department, during the recent Fourth Chinese Landscape Village Selection, Shangzhuang village in Yangcheng city ranked in the selection, with its unique configurations of landscape and diversified culture, becoming newly discovered cultural resources in Shanxi province.

Shangzhuang village has been preserving ancient constructions dating back to different historic periods, from the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) and Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), to the early publican period, with the constructions covering residences, religion, sacrifices, culture and businesses. Large amounts of artistic works, such as stone carving, brick carving, wooden carving and horizontal inscribed boards are still being discovered. Many intangible cultural heritages were named as excellent examples in the fields of ancient village protection.
