The Shanghai Tower, China's tallest Building, in Lujiazui, Pudong New District of Shanghai, stood out from more than 100 skyscrapers across the globe to win the Best Tall Building Asia & Australasia award, according to a recent announcement by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH).

The Shanghai Tower came out on top in the category due to its unique design. Antony Wood, executive director of CTBUH, said, "Shanghai Tower shows the greatest commitment to communal space in a tall building since the Commerzbank Tower was built in 1997. It contains the world's first truly habitable double-skin facade on a skyscraper, which is not only remarkable for its intended greenery, but its incorporation into the tower's overall ventilation strategy."

"The sacrifice of valuable floor area to realize this social amenity proves that the aspirations for Shanghai Tower went far beyond mere commercial gain."

Headquartered in Chicago in the US, CTBUH is an international and authoritative body in the field of tall buildings and urban design. It began recognizing the team achievement in tall building projects by issuing the Best Tall Building Awards in 2007.

At 632 meters high, the Shanghai Tower has 132 stories and covers a total floor area of 578,000 square meters. It integrates office areas, hotels, convention and exhibition areas, sightseeing and leisure, as well as commercial areas. The building's main highlights are its curved facade, spiraling form, and green architectural design.
