With the help of the Pudong Association of Returned Overseas Scholars, the Pudong New District of Shanghai recently played host to 50 overseas Chinese, after which seven of them expressed a desire to set up a business in the district, Pudong Times reports, on Feb 3.

The association has organized eight of these events in the past to try to attract more young entrepreneurs to work in Pudong, a financial center. The recent event had more than 200 people studying in the United States, the UK, Germany, France, Canada, and Japan signing up, resulting in the 50 being selected. They were also asked to suggest ideas for the Shanghai Technology Innovation Center in Pudong, which handles funding, technology, policies, academic exchanges, intellectual property protection, enterprise registration and innovation.
