Shanghai school launches cultural exhibition

There was an exhibition on Pudong's intangible cultural heritage at Shanghai New York University recently, Pudong Times has reported on Aug 25, saying that it had 10 intangible cultural heritage items out of a possible 56 on display, mostly traditional handicrafts and art.

The show, which included Shanghai woolen embroidery, Sanlin embroidery, stone carvings, and Pudong paper-cuts, was organized by the Pudong cultural heritage protection center and NYU Shanghai with the aim of welcoming foreign students, explaining Pudong's history and culture, and helping the students get a better understanding of Chinese culture overall.

Students at the exhibition said they were impressed by the local culture and that the works on display were amazing and gave them a better understanding of Chinese culture. At the same time, NYU Shanghai had other cultural activities for the students, including dances with local people and tours of local museums, culture streets and a library.
