Spanish auto parts manufacturer lands R&D center in Jiading

Gestamp, a Spanish auto parts manufacturer, opened a new R&D center at the Auto Innovation Harbor in Jiading district of Shanghai on Nov 22.

With investment of 18.9 million yuan ($2.85 million), the new R&D center covers 2,550 square meters and will offer over 40 high-skilled positions by the end of this year.

The center is designed to strengthen Gestamp's cooperation with China's original equipment manufacturers (OEM), making their launch of joint R&D activities in China more convenient.

They expect to work together to improve manufacturing techniques and product quality, and reduce automobile energy consumption and its impact on the environment.

The new center further enhances Gestamp's global R&D network. The company has set up 13 R&D centers around the globe in countries such as the United States, France, the UK, Spain, Brazil, and Germany, aiming to give its globally-developed innovations on-site technical support.

Kevin Stobb, president of Gestamp Asia, said that they are dedicated to building firm and strategic partnerships with Chinese clients, and that this center will help them have closer client cooperation.

Gestamp is a multinational dedicated to the design, development and manufacture of metal automotive components. It offers 800 types of automotive components to 50 auto brands worldwide.
