The Association of Manufacturing Execution System (MES), China's first MES industry organization in the field of intelligent manufacturing, was recently inaugurated in Anting town, Jiading district of Shanghai.

Manufacturing execution systems (MES) are computerized systems used in manufacturing, to track and document the transformation of raw materials to finished goods. MES provides information that helps manufacturers understand how current conditions on the plant floor can be optimized to improve production output.

More than 40 leaders from Chinese and foreign companies that work on MES R&D and application, attended the inaugural meeting of the new association, which serves as a branch of the China Association for Mechatronics Technology and Application.

The establishment of the association is expected to promote the development of China’s intelligent manufacturing, according to Sun Chuancai, the newly-elected secretary-general of the association.

Intelligent manufacturing is a focus area for Anting, which has hosted the International Conference on Intelligent Manufacturing and Industry 3.0 for two years, encouraging local companies to utilize intelligent manufacturing methods.
