UK tech startups show off their products in Jiading

Six startup teams from UK business incubator SILK presented their tech projects in Jiading New City of Shanghai on July 2, promoting their creative ideas in cross-border payment, online education, brokerage, tourism and other sectors.

The event, sponsored by Shanghai's business incubator InnoSpring, SILK, and Jiading New City, was part of the fifth innoX Innovation Star Show, aiming to select innovative high-tech teams and projects globally and encourage innovation.

InnoSpring, a sci-tech innovation service provider, is devoted to building a worldwide integrated platform of innovative resources and providing end-to-end services in space, investment, entrepreneurship, mentoring and market resources, to help with startups' rapid growth as well as improving regional innovation capacity.

SILK is a venture catalyst which focuses on China. It helps technology companies in seeking investment for expansion from Europe to China and vice-versa.

The following are projects presented by the UK startup teams:

1. Viva City

Viva City (former Din Dins) is building a product to help Chinese independent travelers to dine out outside China - from discovering the hottest restaurants to placing orders. Viva City overcomes language barriers and helps travelers through every step of the dining experience.

2. Gamewheel

Gamewheel offers a simple tool for brands to use games in mobile marketing. They provide a library of customizable and amangement platform for advertising revenue-based games.

3. Remitsy

Remitsy enables fast payments to businesses in China with better currency rates than banks thanks to the use of block-chain technology and local banking networks.

4. Revolut

Revolut is a global money app that allows users to exchange currencies, send and receive money through social networks and spend money with a multi-currency card that is accepted across the globe.

5. Silicon Markets

Silicon Markets provide MT4 and tradable platforms that allow traders to develop algorithms without having to have any coding knowledge.

6. TeachPitch

TeachPitch is an online community and library of teaching aides. Teachers can sign up to the platform for free and find the best online resources curated by the team. Through the library system TeachPitch offers a growing range of functions, allowing teachers to save, share, rate and review the resources they find.
