Authorities in Nanxiang town, Jiading district of Shanghai announced the opening of the Nanxiang Entrepreneurship Association at the Nanxiang Shineland Industrial Park on June 15.

The association, sponsored by local government, business incubators, and communities, aims to serve and help startups by giving them preferential policies and entrepreneurship training, and organizing match-making events.

It set a three-year goal of helping 180 startup companies and 110 young entrepreneurs, providing training to 250 people, and building seven business incubators and three youth entrepreneurship practice bases.

June 15 was also the final of the current round of an entrepreneurship competition between 12 enterprises from the fields of smart hardware, cultural innovation, and others.

Based on strict evaluation of their business mode, current development and future planning by a panel of experts, three winners were named.

The competition, which has run for some time, was launched by Tech 50, a business incubator located in Nanxiang, since 2013. It has helped increase the national exposure of Nanxiang and encouraged more companies to settle down there.

More than 400 companies that participated in the competition over the years have moved to Nanxiang. The outstanding ones received strong financial support such as investment and loans.
