Conference focuses on smart manufacturing in Jiading

The International Conference on Smart Manufacturing and Industry 4.0 was held in Jiading district, Shanghai, on Nov 2.

Government leaders, scholars and experts from top Chinese and foreign research institutes, universities, representatives from leading companies attended the two-day event and brainstormed on the topics featuring smart manufacturing and industry 4.0, intelligent robots, smart factories, manufacturing execution system, and industrial software.

It was sponsored by the China Association for Mechatronics Technology and Application and the Chinese-German College of Tongji University. In line with China's "Made in China 2025" strategy released in May 2015 and a China-Germany cooperation guideline released in October 2014, the event aims to promote the development of smart manufacturing and enhance cooperation among global enterprises.

The event involved keynote speeches by government leaders, experts and entrepreneurs, a forum of international entrepreneurs and scientists, a dialogue among government leaders, three sub-forums and a tour to the 17th China International Industry Fair held in Shanghai.

Zhu Jianjiang, deputy governor of Jiading, said that the conference will encourage the district to actively transform its traditional manufacturing to the smart one. Zhu added that Jiading now has played a leading role in China's auto sector and he expected that the conference will help the district with the transformation of its auto industry.
