About the district

Gangbuk-gu is one of the districts in the jurisdiction of the Korean city of Seoul, noted for its beautiful and habitable environment.

Establishment of friendly relations

On April 10, 1997, Chang Jung-shik, mayor of Kang Buk City of Seoul, sent a message to the head of Jiading district, indicating the wish to begin friendly exchanges. On July 25, 1997, the two districts signed the Letter of Intent on Friendly Exchanges Between Jiading District of Shanghai Municipality of the People's Republic of China and Gangbuk-gu of Seoul City of the Republic of Korea. On December 12, the two districts signed the Agreement on Friendly Exchanges Between Jiading District of Shanghai Municipality of the People's Republic of China and Gangbuk-gu of Seoul City of the Republic of Korea.
