National Science and Technology award ceremony held in Beijing

The 2016 National Science and Technology award ceremony was held on January 9 in Beijing. President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang and other officials attended the ceremony.

Awards were presented to 279 projects and seven technological experts. Five foreign experts and one international organization won the International Science and Technological Cooperation Award.

John Elmer Kutzbach, a professor from the Institute of Earth Environment (Chinese Academy of Sciences) won the International Science and Technological Cooperation Award.

Professor Kutzbach is Professor Emeritus of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences and Environmental Studies at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He was elected as a member of the National Academy of Sciences in the US in 2006.

He has been cooperating with the Institute of Earth Environment since 1985. He has introduced advanced ideas, technology and methods to China, and promoted international project cooperation between China and the US. He coordinates with Chinese scholars and has helped hasten the development of China’s research in global changes.

What we do

SAFEA is responsible for certifying foreign experts to work in the Chinese mainland and organizing overseas training for Chinese technical and managerial professionals.
