Huawei to build 1.5-bln-yuan cloud computing base and data center in Qingdao

Qingdao National High-tech Industrial Development Zone and Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei Technologies have signed a cooperation agreement to jointly build a cloud computing base, data center and innovation center in Qingdao, Shandong province.

According to the agreement, Huawei will invest around 1-1.5 billion yuan ($145-218 million) to build its cloud computing base in the Qingdao National High-tech Industrial Development Zone. 

Huawei will also use its world-leading cloud computing and big data technology to construct a regional cloud computing service platform.

Huawei has also agreed to work together with its partners to develop a software and information industry chain in Qingdao National High-tech Industrial Development Zone, including cloud computing, software development, software training, and software outsourcing services.

The Qingdao National High-tech Industrial Development Zone will work in close cooperation and full coordination with Huawei, with the aim to promote the fast development of the city's high-tech industries, including cloud computing, big data and smart city infrastructure, as well as to promote the upgrading of local industry.
