Fresh seafood hits Qingdao market as summer fishing ban ends

Fresh seafood is piling into seafood markets in the city of Qingdao after the three-month summer fishing ban, which started on June 1, was lifted.

After the lifting of the ban, locals can now find more fresh seafood at local seafood markets. Prices of seafood are expected to drop by around 10 percent within the week.

The following are our top recommendations for buying the freshest seafood.

 

The National Fishing Port in Shazikou

Best buys: Spanish mackerel, small yellow croakers (Larimichthys polyactis) and shrimp.

Best time to buy: 5:00—9:00 am
