Jimo in Qingdao has been announced as the permanent site for the Chinese College Students micro Film Contest, by the event's organizing committee, according to Qingdao Daily on March 15.

This year's event has attracted entries from more than 600 universities across the country, with the awards ceremony to be held in the city on April 15.

Jointly organized by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, China Television Artists Association, Communication University of China and the Jimo government, the annual event has two film and screenplay competitions.

The organizers have also set up a "Jimo Story" category to encourage participants to create screenplays and films reflecting the city.

In order to promote micro film development, Jimo will hold a director training camp by inviting experts from professional art and film schools to give lectures on cinematic theory and practice, and offer instructions on filming for up-and-coming directors, according to Liu Shaoqing, art director of the organizing committee.
