When the mayor of Qingdao, Shandong province, Zhang Xinqi, met with Lutz Bertling, president of Bombardier Transportation, Canadian transportation and aerospace giant, at the city's Shangri-La Hotel, on Dec 12th, he explained how Qingdao and Bombardier have increased exchanges in the locomotive industry and that he hopes it can work with Bombardier for greater cooperation in the city's aviation industry.

Bertling expressed sincere thanks to the Qingdao government for its support in recent years and that the company will strengthen the cooperation with China's CSR Qingdao Sifang Co., a key subsidiary of the China South Locomotive and Rolling Stock Industry Group, one of the country's two major locomotive makers, in a bid to make a greater contribution to the economic and social development of Qingdao.

Bombardier and CSR's joint venture Bombardier Sifang (Qingdao) Transportation (BST) have just completed a 600,000 km test run of the newly developed high-speed CRH380D produced by BST.

Bombardier Transportation, as the rail equipment division of the Canadian firm Bombardier Inc., is one of the world's largest companies in the rail-equipment manufacturing and servicing industry. As one of the biggest business aircraft manufacturers in the world, Bombardier has delivered 110 business aircrafts to Chinese customers and has the biggest share of the market.
