Huangdao to hold Asian University Beach Volleyball Championship

The 3rd Asian University Beach Volleyball Championship will be held in Huangdao New District of Qingdao, Shandong province, from August 22 to 28, attended by 23 teams from 11 countries and regions.

The championship is being jointly hosted by the Asian University Sports Federation (AUSF), the Federation of University Sports of China (FUSC) and Huangdao district government. The opening ceremony will be held on August 22.

Located at Qingdao’s west coast, Huangdao district is a tourist attraction and holiday resort with beautiful scenery and a pleasant climate. In order to promote tourism, the district government has developed various holiday products, such as beach sports.

It is an ideal place to enjoy beach volleyball, a fashionable outdoor activity. It is the first time for Huangdao to host an international competition, which will help to upgrade the city’s image, develop the tourism industry and promote sports culture.

There will be other campaigns during the championship, including a member congress and executive board meeting of AUSF, the 2nd Asian University Golf Championship and cultural exchange programs. Beach carnival, coastal recreational and village resort activities will also be highlights during the tourist season in Huangdao.

The 1st Asian University Volleyball Championship was held in Laizhou, Shandong province, on July 7, 2011.
