Jiaozhou Governor’s Hall in Qingdao, a major city in Shandong province, will reopen to tourists in July. German and Chinese experts worked together to make the hall regain its splendor after an eight-month renovation. A European watch and clock fair will be held at the hall, and special tickets will be offered for children and the elderly.
Jiaozhou Governor’s Hall is the former German colonial government building in Jiaozhou Bay of Shandong province. With a gross space of 7,500 square meters, the building was designed by German architect Friedrich Mahlke and was constructed during 1904 to 1906. It served as Qingdao’s town hall in 1992.
