The Qingdao Iron and Steel Group and the YCH Group, Singapore's largest third-party logistics and supply chain management solutions provider and operator, recently held talks in Qingdao, Shandong province and signed an agreement of intent to jointly build a cold chain logistics park.

The two companies aim to forge a world-class logistics hub in the eastern Chinese coastal city, which will serve Shandong province, radiate to surrounding areas and tap the world's logistics needs.

Qingdao's Vice-Mayor Liu Mingjun met the chairman of YCH Group and the China head of International Enterprise Singapore (IE Singapore) on June 9.

Thanks to IE Singapore's active promotion, Qingdao has had close economic and trade contacts with Singapore in recent years, and the two sides have made remarkable achievements in their cooperation in fields like modern service industries and manufacturing, Liu said.

He said Qingdao will continue to roll out policies to encourage the development of modern service industries, especially finance, logistics, tourism and cultural and creative industries, and logistics is set to become one of Qingdao's pillar industries.

Liu said that collaboration between the Qingdao Iron and Steel Group and the YCH Group conform to the development direction of Qingdao's logistics industry and the municipal government attached great importance to the project. He hoped that the YCH group and the Qingdao Iron and Steel Group would explore deeper and wider cooperation in cold chain logistics, he added.

YCH Group's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Robert Yap said he was confident about Qingdao's investment environment and future cooperation with the city.

The guests also paid visits to the city's Dongjiakou Port Zone, the Qingdao Iron and Steel Group's old and new factory complexes and the Dongjiakou Cold Chain Logistics Base for International Aquatic Products.
