Qingdao CPI rises 2.2 percent in January

The Qingdao investigation team of the National Bureau of Statistics of China released statistics concerning Qingdao's January Consumer Price Index (CPI) on Feb 17. Qingdao CPI increased by 1.3 percent in January compared with the previous month – affected by the Spring Festival - an increase of 2.2 percent compared to the same period last year. The price of food rose 4.6 percent year on year, industrial products rose 0.9 percent and service prices 1.6 percent.

Prices of some food - such as rice, pork, egg, seafood, vegetables and fruits - rose compared to the previous month.

The price of vegetables in Qingdao rose 19.8 percent compared to the previous month, and the price of fruits increased by 24 percent compared to December - a year on year increase of 36.2percent.
