Qingdao received more than 49 million visitors in the past three quarters, an increase of 8 percent year-on-year, Qingdao Daily reported on Friday.

The city has realized total tourist revenues of 70.83 billion yuan ($11.62 billion) in the past nine months. It has also maintained growth in inbound tourism, despite poor national inbound tourism, attracting 964,400 visitors with foreign exchange earnings of $582 million.

Working to build a global tourism destination, Qingdao has started many new projects, including a cruise liner home port terminal and the Wanda Tourism Cultural City.
