Qingdao will put a tobacco control act into effect on Sept 1, Qingdaonews.com reported.

In accordance with the act, non-smoking signs will be put up in all public places including: indoor areas for entertainment, shopping, eating, boarding, medical care and training; indoor workplaces and affiliated public zones such as elevators, corridors and canteens; places relating to public transportation like buses, cabs, trains, subways, ships, aircrafts and lounges; places for juveniles such as kindergartens, primary and middle schools, and children's hospitals; and all performance centers, sports venues and residential areas.

The public health bureau of Qingdao says non-smoking signs should be well-sized and noticeable by Sept 1.
