A video about a 103-year-old professor and his 26-year-old Haier refrigerator has become a sensation with 700,000 hits within a week on Youku, the Chinese online video website.
Professor Ji, who worked for Shanxi University, told his life story in the video. He showed the refrigerator he bought in 1987, which still works well in his house.
"It has never broken down through all those years. I still use it to store our milk, vegetables and other food even today," said Ji. "I think I will continue to use it for a long time."
His daughter said she could still remember her joy from the first popsicle her father made for her using the refrigerator years ago.
The long-term life of the Haier refrigerator has sparked a wide range of discussion on the Internet.
Mowu Liunian commented that the refrigerator is even older than himself. Appliances of such good quality can only be made by a few manufacturers. Mowu thinks Haier must be proud of this.
Youku user Mini Godzilla said he is stunned by such an antique home appliance as he could never imagine a refrigerator working for such a long time.
