Qingdao has finished its annual task of transferring 100,000 surplus rural labor workers to the city by the end of June, a 4.7 percent increase year-on-year, according to data from the Qingdao municipal bureau of human resources and social security on July 15. More than 2,300 migrant workers have enhanced their own business through the support of the government fund in the first half year, Qingdao Morning News reported.

From January to June, the city has hosted 761 job fairs and released 221,000 pieces of job information to the public. It has also organized entrepreneurial training for 659 farmers and developed about 30 entrepreneurial projects.

The municipal government has issued an allowance of 1.7 million yuan ($277,000) and subsidized loans totaling 1.7 million yuan to help farmers start their own business.
