Statistics Communique Qingdao's Economic and Social Development during 2012

In 2012, Qingdao saw steady economic growth under difficult domestic and international economic conditions. It has been resolutely implementing the central government’s macroeconomic regulations and control policies while continuing to adhere to the Concept of Scientific Development, pushing for more reform and opening up, and accelerating the pace of innovation and transformation of its growth model. The city also witnessed overall progress in social programs and further improvement in personal incomes.

Preliminary statistics showed a gross domestic product (GDP) of RMB 730.211 billion, up 10.6% over the previous year. Of the total, primary industries contributed RMB 32.44 billion in added value, up 3.2%, secondary industries contributed RMB 340.223 billion, up 11.5%, and tertiary industries contributed RMB 357.547 billion, up 10.5%. The ratio of primary, secondary and tertiary industries was 4.4, 46.6 and 49.0.

Qingdao realized RMB 244.969 billion in the local government's general revenue, up 1.7%, RMB 67.018 billion in the public budget revenue, up 18.4% and RMB 75.598 billion in the public budget expenditure, up 16.3%. The national tax revenue (including those collected by customs) rose by 8.5% to RMB 132.613 billion. Internal revenue increased 11.6% to RMB 58.195 billion and local tax revenue increased 17.9% to RMB 46.28 billion.

The total consumer price index increased 2.7%. In December, the index increased 1.8% from the same period a year ago. The factory price index for main industrial products decreased 1.39% year-on-year. The purchase price index decreased 3% year-on-year. In December, urban newly-built residential housing prices decreased 3.4% while secondhand residential housing prices decreased 1.2% year-on-year.
