The first science museum publicizing food security started trial operations in Qingdao recently. The museum is expected to open to the public for free on April 26, Qingdaonews.com reported on April 19.

The museum will publicize six fields of knowledge through various demonstrations. More than 1,600 kinds of hazardous and shoddy food commodities and models will be displayed in the 500-square-meter exhibition area. Designed to receive 40,000 visitors each year, the museum was named the Demonstration Base for Publicizing and Educating by the Qingdao municipal government.

According to the Qingdao municipal bureau of quality and technical supervision, apart from fostering itself into a high-level base capable of supervising and testing food, the museum will provide visitors with opportunities to learn about food security.
