The Qingdao cruise liner home port project was approved by the Ministry of Transport of the People's Republic of China, Iqilu.com reported on Feb 26. The project will be put into operation in 2014 according to Qingdao Port Group’s construction plan.

The cruise liner home port will be divided by three berths that measure 1,000 meters long total. The newly-built berth, costing 800 million yuan ($129 million), will have a length of 490 meters and a draught of 13.5 meters. The new berth will be able to provide an all-weather port for the Oasis of the Seas, the world’s largest cruise ship, after completion.
