Three trademarks in Jimo, a county-level city in Qingdao, were recognized as "China Famous Trademarks" in 2012. The city now has 14 national famous trademarks, accounting for 19 percent of the total in Qingdao.
Thanks to Jimo's long history, marine tourism and traditional customs, 30 percent of its total 5,262 registered trademarks are in the knitting industry, according to Zhang Xiaowei, director of the Jimo administration for industry and commerce.
Business authorities in Jimo city have archived 4,000 local brands and set up business contact with 520 national well-known brands – including Hengyuanxiang, Shanshan and Bosideng – in order to increase popularity of local brands through publicity. To date, Jimo city has brought in 2,300 brands. "We make electronic archives for local brands and have set up trademark registration agency service systems to combine production with marketing and promote brand management in the wholesale industry," said Zhang.
Jimo city will foster registered and well-known trademarks.
