A Shandong maritime police detachment employed two patrol vessels and more than 60 policemen during safety publicity and rescue exercises on the Yellow Sea near Jiaozhou Bay on Jan 10. The activities serve to prevent future accidents caused by severe weather and sea ice.

The rescue exercises included simulated medical rescues of injured civilians in the sea, increasing the emergency response skills of Shandong maritime police.
