Qingdao to host 2012 Inter-City Music Festival

The 2012 Inter-City Music Festival will be held on the famous Golden Sand Beach, on Aug 12 in Qingdao's Economic and Technological Development Zone, in eastern China's Shandong province.

The festival first started in Beijing in 2009. This is the first time the event will be held in Qingdao, according to the publicity department of the Qingdao Municipal Government.

Top musicians and singers from Canada, Germany and France will put on their show here. Several famous Chinese singers, such as Cui Jian and Pu Shu, will also present their representative works to feastthe audience.

The music festival will kick off with a concert by the Japanese Jazz singer Lisa Ono, wworld-renowned for her unique bossa nova style, at the Qingdao Grand Theatre on Aug 12.

The exciting climax of the festival will begin on Aug. 17 and last for three days. More than 10 top international singers will give passionate and inspired performances to the audience on the luxurious twin stage "Gemini."

Music fans can expect great shows from Peaches and Louise Burns from Canada, heavy metal rock band Powerman 5000 from the US, and the godfather of Chinese rock Cui Jian among others.

A photography exhibition in memory of the 50-year history of British rock and roll will be open to the audience during the three-day music festival. People will have a cultural trip wandering through the corridors of photos, a retrospective of the change and influence British rock stars have brought to the world in the past half century.
