Ningbo and Hungary

When talking about Hungary, people must think of the comedy film The Grand Budapest Hotel. The country is just as romantic as the film depicts. Budapest, the capital of Hungary, is renowned as the "Pearl of Danube".

The friendly ties between Ningbo and Hungary were first established in July 2003, when Ningbo and Veszprem in Hungary became sister cities. People who are interested in traveling to Hungary can take part in Ningbo’s group tours to the CEE countries in June.

Bilateral relations between Ningbo and Hungary cover wide-ranging areas. Since 2014, Ningbo universities have offered Hungarian students government scholarships ranging from 6,000 yuan to 30,000 yuan in a bid to attract them to study in the city.

By the end of 2014, 10 Hungarian investment projects in apparel and textile industries in Ningbo have been approved. Correspondingly, seven Ningbo enterprises and institutions operating in lighting products and electric appliances were sanctioned to invest in Hungary.

When it comes to local preferences, Hungarian wines are popular among Ningbo residents while LCD display panels, clothes and generators are favored by Hungarian enterprises. The total export and import volume between Ningbo and Hungary exceeded $210 million in 2014.
