World-famous choruses gather in Shenyang

China Shenyang International Chorus Festival will open on July 31 in Shenyang City, Liaoning province and will last for five days until August 4.
On the occasion, 60 world-famous chorus from home and abroad will attend the event and nearly 3,000 visitors and performers in total will celebrate the festival.
During the event, the international chorus from Russia, Kyrghyzstan and Hungary, etc, will perform, all of whom have received honors from other international competitions.
Chinese choirs to perform at the festival include Xi'An Chorus from Tianjin, Qunxing Youth Chorus from Qingdao and Mongolia Chorus from Hohhot.
All of these choruses have their own specialties. For example, Ball in the House, from Boston, the United States, is skilled at combining singing styles of R&B, soul and pop music. The choirs has performed with many excellent artists and groups like the Beach Boys, the Jonas Brothers and Gladys Knight.
The Qunxing Youth Chorus well-versed in many different Chinese styles and has performed the oratorio "A Dream in Red Mansions" with the Kunqu Opera House of China.
The Mongolia Chorus consists of several ethnic minorities, such as the Mongol nationality, the Hui nationality, the Korean nationality and the Daur people and as such, combines the music from these minorities into their shows.
Yang Hong, the deputy director of the Cultural Market Administration of Shenyang, said the International Chorus Festival will hasten the development of the musical culture in Shenyang and improve the cultural taste of the city. In addition, the event will help to promote a better cultural environment for the Northeastern Rust Belt.
