NE China entrepreneur joins global billionaire ranks

Kang Baohua, chairman of the Shenyang Brilliant Elevator Co, in the city of Shenyang, Liaoning province has joined the world's growing list of billionaires, following gains in the company's Shenzhen-traded stock price, Forbes, the global leader in business news and rankings, reported on Mar 29.
Brilliant's had revenues of 2-billion yuan ($315 million), last year, for an increase of 18 percent over 2013, and said in January that it will take over 100 percent of its parent company's unlisted sewerage treatment and robot technology businesses, for 287.6 million yuan, but that the transactions are not complete.
Brilliant's share price has more than doubled over the past year and Kang's stake in Brilliant and in Yuanda China, a construction materials supplier, were worth a total of 6.5 billion yuan, at last Friday's closing.
Kang graduated from Liaoning University in politics in 1984 and set up the predecessor of Yuanda China, an HK-listed curtain manufacturer, in 1992, and co-founded the predecessor of Shenyang Brilliant, in 2001. Kang came in at 369th on the 2014 Forbes China Rich List with a worth of $730 million.
