An experimental school in the Nantong Economic and Technological Development Zone, in the city of Nantong, Jiangsu province, has been cited by the local newspaper for its achievements in education, in an Oct 27 report, which notes that the school has organized art, science and reading activities to give students an opportunity to show their talent and their aesthetic feelings.

Zhao Jianhua, the school's principal, explains that they have looked for ways to provide education in aesthetics through more interesting courses at least once a week, using calligraphy, paper cutting, pottery making, weaving, chorus singing or aerobics, and to encourage the study of traditional culture through the classics and discussions.

The school says that, thanks to these efforts, they have seen good benefits, for example, when one of their dance programs and two paintings by students took first place in a national art competition, in 2013, or when a dance program took a provincial championship title, in 2015.

Zhao went on to explain that the newspaper article showed that their efforts had paid off and that it will cause them to work harder on their aesthetic education.
