Konrad Mizzi, minister of energy and health of Malta, South Europe, recently paid a visit to a group of medical workers from Nantong, Jiangsu province, who will set out for medical and health services in Malta this year.
The medical team, consisting of six people, is currently getting training on language, foreign affairs protocol norms and disciplines in Nanjing. Training is expected to be finished in April. After that, the team will set out for Malta to start their two-year medical services.
The minister expressed his gratitude for the contribution of Jiangsu in improving the healthcare of the country. According to him, Malta has a high rate of infertility. He hoped that the medical team can promote traditional Chinese medicines to deal with infertility in the country.
Xu Jinhua, team leader and deputy director of the Nantong Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital, said it will be his second time attending the medical services in Malta. With the aim of enhancing cooperation in the domain of Chinese medicine treatment between the two countries, the team will introduce traditional Chinese medical therapies to Malta, such as pharmaceutical technologies, acupuncture and tuina, a form of therapeutic massage. He also voiced his commitment to make contributions to the cause of foreign aid.
