Japanese auto parts maker to open R&D headquarters in Nantong

Aisin (Nantong) Automotive Technology Co in the Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area, Jiangsu province, will build its Chinese headquarters for research and development next year with a total investment of $10.8 million.

The headquarters, as a site for research and development and parts testing, will complete construction and go into operation by the end of 2015.

As the second overseas research and development base of Aisin Seiki Co, a Japanese Fortune 500 auto parts maker, the Nantong company has developed a variety of products catering to Chinese customers since it was founded in 2011. It also provides technical services for auto parts performance test and assessment. It currently has more than 60 professional technicians, including 19 Japanese experts.

Aisin Seiki Co, Japan's biggest maker of transmissions, is a main auto parts supplier of Toyota Group. It supplies gearboxes for joint auto ventures such as Faw Toyota Co, Gac Toyota Co and Dongfeng Peugeot Co in China and also supplies parts for General Motors and Volkswagen.
