The Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area (NETDA), Jiangsu province, played hosted to the area's 12th national fitness sports meeting on Dec 6 and 7. Over 1,300 athletes from 34 delegations participated in 20 categories.
The two-day meeting, featuring both competition and entertainment, is a large-scale sports event with the most participants since NETDA was founded. It not only included traditional track and field and ball games, but also some interesting matches such as tug-of-war and four-legged races with three people.
Apart from promoting economic development of the area, NETDA also focuses on the construction of sports facilities. In 2014, the area built 12 new outdoor workout paths and one community exercise park. It also cultivated over 100 sports instructors with the city’s sports bureau and hosted a string of sports activities to enrich people’s lifelives.

The NETDA Free Trade Zone got the original go-ahead, on Jan 3, 2013, from the State Council, for a 5.29-sq-km area, in two parts.
