The Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area (NETDA) in Jiangsu delivered 8,000 quilts to the quake-hit region of Northwest China’s Yunnan province on Aug 9.

The quilts worth 1.2 million yuan ($195,000) were donated by Luolai Home Textile Co, which made a quick move in response to the donation campaign launched by NETDA’s charity association on Aug 4. Luolai will also donate 100,000 yuan to the region, said the company’s director.

Luolai was granted a certificate at the donation ceremony. Zhou Jian, head of the charity association, appreciated Luolai’s generosity and encouraged more enterprises to make contributions to the quake-hit region. He also praised the workers working overtime on the delivery.

A 6.5-magnitude earthquake struck Ludian County in Yunnan province on Aug 3, and had caused the deaths of 617 people with 112 reported missing, as of Aug 11.

  • The NETDA Free Trade Zone got the original go-ahead, on Jan 3, 2013, from the State Council, for a 5.29-sq-km area, in two parts.
