Nantong Jiajun Information Technology co., ltd at Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area (NETDA), has developed the world’s smallest eye tracker, and the company is currently manufacturing the first order of 2000 units.

Eye tracking technology concerns devices which read the movements of people’s eyes, and it can be used in healthcare, online education, psychology, and criminal investigations. When people look at objects, their eyes will linger longer on those they find more interesting, and the devices are based on this notion.

Until now, the accuracy of the devices was low, but the eye tracker developed by Pu Xiaowu - executive director of the company - and his team is only 20 centimeters in length and less than 2 centimeters in height, and relies on infrared light image-processing algorithms. It was exhibited at Germany Science Blog Creative exhibition at the end of October, and China Central Television (CCTV) also reported on this development.

  • The NETDA Free Trade Zone got the original go-ahead, on Jan 3, 2013, from the State Council, for a 5.29-sq-km area, in two parts.
